We would like to extend a warm welcome to you as you join our school community. We are the Friends of Farnham Common Village Schools (FFCVS - similar to a PTA), a registered charity made up of fantastic parents, carers, sponsors and donors, who all work together voluntarily.
What do we do?
We create memorable, fun events for everyone involved with the schools and raise funds for projects, initiatives and resources to benefit the children. We work closely with the Headteacher, Mr Masters, the teaching staff, governors and parents to understand the needs of the children and the schools.
Most recently we have provided the school with smart boards in the Junior School and sports turf playground at the Infant School. We have also supplied each classroom with a laptop and digital camera, alongside enriching books and DT resources across both schools. We organise and run multiple social events over the year. Quiz and Bingo nights are always popular, a Christmas fayre, the Sports Day Family Fete, we’ve even recently hosted a Circus and a Winter Laser Festival. In addition there are a multitude of events for the children, for example Make the Rules Day and themed discos.
In the academic year 2023/24 we raised £21,700 .
None of these events can take place without the great community spirit and hard work behind the scenes, however it’s not all about raising funds, we create lasting memories for the children too.
How can you get involved?
Being on the Committee: we meet roughly once a month either in person locally or over Zoom, and correspond regularly within a WhatsApp group to develop ideas and orchestrate events. If you would like to be involved, we’d love to have you on board – the more the merrier! We are currently looking to fill the Secretary position, please ask us for more info if you are interested.
Being an Associate Member: if you’re pushed for time or resources, registering as an Associate Member is a great way to help out, as much or as little as you like. It may be as short as half an hour behind the bar at the Sports Day Fete or baking a cake for a coffee morning.
Contacts and skills sets: we are always looking for business contacts. If you feel you or your company might be able to help with things like sponsorship, supplying food/drink or goods for an event, printing, digital resources, marketing, people-power then we’d love to hear from you.
Match Funding: Many companies run corporate donation schemes in various formats, they can match donations or amounts raised, pledge resources, or pay an hourly rate for parents volunteering. One amazing parent recently raised £2,000, he was paid by his employer for volunteering his time at events.
Respond to volunteer shout outs: as and when an event comes up contact us if you can help out.
Online shopping: We’re registered with ‘easyfundraising’ which means you can raise money for us every time you shop online. Over 6,000 shops and sites will donate to the Friends when you shop at no extra cost to yourself, you just need to register online or via the app. We’ve raised over £8,000 to date. www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/farnhamcommonvillageschools/
