The teachers at Farnham Common Village schools use ‘Quality First teaching’ practices. All children, including children with an EHCP, are taught by the teacher; with work being differentiated effectively and targets personalised for each child. The teacher is responsible for tracking the child’s progress and this is monitored by the Head teacher and SENDCo. Children with SEND are placed on the school’s SEND register and appropriate provision is planned for them. This may be individual support in the classroom, adopting specific strategies within the class to help specific difficulties, working within a small group or participating in a specific SEND program. For children with physical disabilities this might also mean adapting the physical environment or providing individual adult support to make achievement possible.
Farnham Common Village schools provide a nurturing and caring environment and all children have access to quality Personal, Social, Health Education (PHSE). Systems are in place to ensure children are supported socially and emotionally. The schools also have five ELSA trained LSAs (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants) who work with individual children or small groups in a nurture setting.
